Türkiye Issues Statement Condemning ISIS Attack in Syria

An attack was carried out by ISIS against Syrian and U.S. forces conducting patrols near the city of Palmyra in Syria. As a result of the attack, two U.S. soldiers and one U.S. national were killed.

In a statement regarding the attack, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We condemn the terrorist attack carried out today (December 13) against Syrian and U.S. forces performing patrol duties near the city of Palmyra in Syria.”

Concluding its statement by saying, “We will continue to support the efforts of the Syrian Government to strengthen stability and security in the country and to combat terrorism,” the Ministry emphasized that the fight against terrorism must be pursued resolutely within the framework of regional and international cooperation, stressing that such attacks undermine efforts to establish lasting peace and stability in Syria.
